Week 11 EOC: Final Evaluation

I have learned a lot from this class about advertising. I had a totally different perspective on advertising before. I just thought advertising was just making pretty posters or fliers to attract attention to get people to buy a certain product or participate in some event. I never knew how in depth it really was until I took this class. Although, I wish we could have had more interesting work to do in the class other than just blogs because not everyone has the time to read blogs due to what is going with their personal lives. Also everyone is mostly on Facebook 90% of the time. I probably would have enjoyed doing more creative content other than just blogging. I do enjoy blogging but only when it's relative to something I want to talk about and when I don't have writer's block because I tend to get writer's block. I would have like to do something that defines advertising a little more because advertising is very visual. I actually enjoyed the lectures. I usually get bored or struggle not to fall asleep during lectures but this is one of the rare classes where I am actually wide awake enjoying it. I liked how this class is very relevant to my major. If it wasn't so much, I would not be particularly happy taking this class if I felt like I wasn't learning anything from it. I also enjoyed watching video's that were show in class. Especially Madmen. Thanks to this class, I am now hooked on MadMen. Even though majority of the class are in fashion retail management, I wish we could learn a little bit about fashion advertising because advertising clothes, really isn't that easy. But overall I have learned a lot from this class and I will apply to my career in the future.

EOC Week 10: Art & Copy

This fall Missoni has launched their spring collection at Target for a much more affordable and reasonable prices. Missoni clothes usually retail from $300 - $500. Since the economy has gone downhill. I thought it was pretty cool that Missoni teamed up with Target. Giving Target a taste of Italian fashion to the United States. It's also not just for women but children as well. Thanks to this commercial I just had to go out and buy myself a Missoni dress. I have to say I got a pretty good deal out of it. Although the clothes in this commercial did not go with the whole "Italian spy" theme. But overall it was a cute commercial.

Analysis Project in the Real World

As I was using this product, I was surprised to see the results of this mascara. My eyelashes look definitely longer. I read reviews from other users, and they said the exact same thing. There were definitely some negative reviews but more on the positive notes. I was skeptical at first because of the negative reviews but once I tried it for myself, I  would give a good review myself.

Promotion

What others think of the London Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara:

I would ask regular working girls to participate in the promotion and hoping they would like the project.

The Big Idea

To attract customers for this product, I would ask them if they are happy with their eyelashes. What do they think of their eyelashes or how would they want it to look. I myself wishes that I had long eyelashes because usually the first thing the opposite sex notices is a woman's eyes (among other things). I would test it myself to see if it works and how it would look on me. If it works well, I would vouch that it has the results they would need. I would also ask women what is their style in clothes, and how do they wear they're makeup. What is their lifestyle like.

Competitive Analysis

America's economy has been very hard on everyone. Almost everyone prefers to spend a good deal on whatever it is they're buying than to buy an expensive high end product which most of time do not even last very long. Most women, no matter how much money they have in their bank accounts or how much they can spend, would rather buy makeup from Walgreens or CVS because they save a lot more money and they can last for nearly a half a year. Buying makeup at Christian Dior or Estee Lauder costs nearly my entire outfit. Buying a $20 lip gloss at Dior is really not worth it. Its just their luxury brand name that catches attention. Their campaign ads does not include details of why their makeups are so great. They just have pictures with a pretty woman.

London Rimmel Lash Accelerator will tell women their eyelashes will look bolder, sexier, and most importantly longer. Many women have that short lashes want their eyes to stand out because long eyelashes according to a mass market that it is more attractive.

Slogan: London Rimmel Mascara

The London Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara is designed for a woman's eyelashes to look stronger, bolder, fuller, longer and sexier. Most mascara commercials nowadays just advertise mascara's that don't clump eyelashes together or make it look messy. London Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara is made for eyelashes to grow 80% longer. It's one of the first eyelash growth mascara's made where a woman does not need to spend so much money at a cosmetic surgeon's office for her eyelashes to grow a little longer which might be a less painful procedure. Women can stay within their budget by buying this mascara at any drug store.

Week 8 BOC: Font Project

Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers

Oh, my love
my darling
I've
hungered for your touch
a long
lonely time
and time goes by so slowly
and time
can do so much
are
you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
Godspeed your love to me

Lonely
rivers flow to the sea,
to the sea
to the open arms of the sea
lonely rivers sigh 'wait for me, wait for me'
I'll be coming home wait for me

Oh, my love
my darling
I've
hungered for your touch
a
long lonely time
and
time goes by so slowly
and
time can do so much
are you
still mine?
I
need your love
I need your love
Godsp
eed your love to me

EOC Week 5: Superbowl commercial

Superbowl Commerical

I can't remember which Superbowl this was shown at. I am pretty sure that it shown earl 2000's. As most Superbowl commercials. Most Superbowl fans or fans only for the commercials played during the Superbowl, expect the commercials to be epic, jaw dropping, eye opening, and/ or just so funny that we will use in everyday inside jokes. When I was watching the Superbowl with my dad, I was just chilling on the couch with pizza and coke. When this commercial came on, I didn't think much of it until it got to the end. My dad and I bursted out laughing. Well first our jaws just dropped and then we bursted out laughing. It was like you could almost feel that one guy's pain but laugh so hard because it was so random and unexpected. I think this commercial was banned after the Superbowl due to probably some complaints of dogs biting genital parts on worldwide TV. I understand it might be inappropriate for certain viewers. But regardless, it was during the Superbowl and just down right hilarious. I can watch this over and over again and cry until I get teary eyed from laughing so hard.

EOC: Week 3 Thank you for smoking

During the 1950's ad 1960's, Everyone was smoking. In the office, doctor's office, or any other work place that today is banned. Not to mention that "physicians say it's irritating." Today in a medical work place, it's 100% not allowed. It could kill us during a surgery or regular check up. Today everyone knows that smoking is bad for you health. Even though there are millions of smokers today, they still know it's bad for their health but really cannot be blamed thanks to nicotine addiction. But this ad is somewhat hypocritical. A doctor would tell a patient that smoking can kill them. On a doctor's lunch break, they will go outside to take a puff. Not exactly setting a good example for their patients. But yet, they can't  help but be addicted themselves as well.

EOC Week 2: Three Examples of Questionable Ethics

Everyday, I get so much junk mail from these ridiculous websites trying to sell fake imitation products. One of these designer handbags selling at very cheap prices. For example, I saw on the link above, an Hermes handbag for $36.99. Hermes handbags retail up to $35,000. If I had learned anything from Intro to the fashion industry, Hermes would never sell any of their products at such a low price and it would ruin their high end reputation and tradition. If I were to buy an Hermes handbag or any other high end designer, I would pay the full price. Wearing an imitation or "fake," wouldn't feel right. People nowadays can tell what's real and what's fake.

I remember watching the documentary on CNN about the Jonestown cult.Of course I was disgusted of some sick man pretending to be a holy man but just a demon in human form. If I was a survived victim of Jonestown, I would have been so offended by a horrific nightmare from this ad. It would brought back horrible memories of crazy religious fanatics thinking they're God. Also it is not funny at all.

Ralph Lauren Scandal

I think it's fair to say that this pretty much self explanatory. It offends people like me that have enough trouble trying to gain weight and causes more pressure to those trying to lose weight. Her head is bigger than her waist! It is just disgusting to look at.

Week 1 EOC Volkswagen Lemon Ad

This ad shows honesty and a bit of annoyance. At first I really did not get the point of this “Lemon” ad with its flaw details on the car. Did anyone really wanted to read an ad about a car with problems?  But I guess according to this blog that it did change some of the fundamentals of advertising. I think it also gave people the idea to not buy this particular car because it was Hitler’s favorite car. Who would want to buy Hitler’s favorite car? That guy with the ugly weird mustache who was responsible for the death of millions that fought in World War II? The ad was going on and on about the inspections. Readers are not really interested in inspection details. Readers are interested in the features and convenience of a car. It should be attention grabbing in a more positive way. Very few will pay attention to this ad but not everyone has the time to sit down and read the article below the picture. The only interesting thing I found about this ad is that it had an impact in modern advertising. It’s dull and there’s nothing exciting about it. An advertisement has to be bright, exciting, and the ability to sell whatever it is they are trying to sell. If I were living during the time this ad was published, I wouldn’t really care much for it and probably just toss in the trash.  Most readers are pretty gullible and easily fall for ads. If Volkswagen was trying to sell a car, they really did not need to put out this “Lemon” ad. But it does remind me of last year’s Toyota break problems. Then a few months later, they made a commercial that said they are determined to make their customers happy or something along those lines. But I do respect the honesty that was showed on this ad.
